Logo design

Starting a new project, to make a start I have had to begin by looking into existing logos to gather inspiration for when it comes to making my own which will then lead onto creating my own brand with that logo.

Choosing four to cover, plenty of discovery had been made going into the use of symbolic codes, colour schemes, fonts, meanings and reasoning's, etc. Everything to do with that will be found embed below.

Needing to come up with my own logo, prototypes were needed. and here they are:

Using the questions embeded below, a presentation had been acted out in a way to get a response to the prototypes of my logos.

Whilst in the presence of two, a voice recording app built in to my mobile device was used to capture everything mentioned. Then once the pitch had been recorded and then pieced together with Davinci Resolve as I had wanted to snip out the unneeded audio including a few stutters, long pauses, ect ect. That, you will find below.

Luckily, all had been received well.

Throughout the pitch, compliments and suggestions had been brought up way before the questions had even been asked. All being as useful and helpful as needed.

Getting onto the reveal of both the second and third design, it was asked by me which they preferred as they were quite similar designs only laid out different to one another. From both of them, they claimed to prefer the first design to the second as "It looks better".

Going through the fourth, a suggestion on a new logo design was brought up. But that I will bring up again soon enough.

As for the fifth and final prototype, it was admired the choice of colours for the avatar being inspired by "traditional Irish colours" as well as it being the same colours given to the Goddess' design in Irish mythology.

Moving onto the next slide, I hadn't realised until published that I forgot to zoom in but ah well.

On that same slide, a new suggestion was made on an idea for the font of the logo. That being to write out the title with Irish Gaelic putting in that link.

Arriving onto the questions now, these are what had been said:

"What do you think of these designs.": "I like them" followed by a more precise answer of her saying she most preferably likes the one of the hands holding the bowl as well as the one with the Goddess Brigit being apart of the logo and keeping in her traditional colours.

And before moving on, a second mention of the bowl logo being their favourite was said.

"When you hear Kilbride productions, what do you think of?": Wondering how exactly people could respond to hearing that title, the only answer I got to that was it sounding like a movie prop company.

"Do you think they look professional?": "If you animate them then yeah." Bringing up the idea of animating them, it was made clear by my audience that if I was to move onto doing that, they would be of help to me working on that project using their experience of computer work and animation which they study on their course, game design.

"Is there a detail you do like, and is there one you really don't?": Only having one issue out of all of the prototypes, that had been referred back to the hand logo but the one holding a plate. Figured I would add slave-related details onto it, there was a worry that it wouldn't be taken well by some, or even most, people.

"What would you do better?": And this is where I refer back to the logo design suggestions. Using a white board provided, I allowed the ones I gave my pitch to to draw on the board their logo designs that I could move forward with. Having a slide share of those drawings, below they will be found.

With these, few designs, I may come back to them. But as of now, I will be using the first hand design liked most by the few from my presentation.

Getting onto creating the final product now, the whole process has been documented using PowerPoint and will be embedded here:

Happy with what I have resulted with, here is the official logo:

Like I said, I am happy with how this has turned out. Sure it wont be the best it could be, but there is always time for improvement as every company does with their logo. For now though I have done as much as I can with what I know, and look forward to using this to represent my upcoming projects.
